The System Gridder component uses information from the Landscape
and Engineering components to produce the Process Grid (see figure
below) consisting of a space-filling set of triangular prisms (or
grid cells). The top and bottom faces of the prisms are triangular
and planar (although not necessarily horizontal) and the sides are
vertical.
The grid when viewed from above is seen as a set of triangles.
Corresponding to each triangle there is a column of prisms. The
prisms in the Process Grid respect the strata boundaries (the
different strata are shown in different colours). This grid is then
available for use by all of the other Process components.
