David Claxton

David Claxton is a Chemical Engineer/Environmental Specialist with a BSc Hons in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham

David joined BNFL in 1982, and is a technical specialist in the fields of remediation technologies, radioactive waste conditioning and disposal, and hydrocyclones.

Over the past 28 years he has taken a leading technical role in a variety of projects relating to remediation of contaminated land; plant decontamination; and conditioning and disposal of radioactive wastes.  Additional experience includes the application of hydrocyclones to radioactive process stream treatment, the environmental impact of radioactive effluents and working with explosives and propellants production.

He has extensive national and international experience.  This includes chairing and working on IAEA workshops in Vienna in connection with remediation of radioactively contaminated sites, and on CIRIA oversight committees in the UK for remediation of contaminated sites.

David is currently an invited lecturer at Birmingham University on the subject of remediation technologies.
